Old tape doesn't last forever — but the memories on it can. We carefully digitise VHS, cine film, photos and audio in our Sydney studio, and we can even bring faded old photos back to life.
Easy to save · easy to share · easy to love, forever
25 years · 2,168 projects · originals never leave our hands
Decades of formats have come and gone. We still have the gear — and the patience — to get the memories off them and into something you can actually open.
Home movies off ageing cassettes, cleaned up and delivered as MP4 files that play anywhere — phone, TV or laptop.
Reels of family film carefully scanned frame by frame, so footage from generations ago can finally be watched again.
Loose prints, full albums, slides and negatives scanned at high resolution, with dust and scratches gently cleaned up.
Faded, torn and creased photos repaired — then, if you like, gently animated into a short clip that brings the faces in them back to life.
Recorded voices, music and dictation lifted off old tape and disc, with hiss and crackle reduced for clean digital tracks.
Your favourite photos set to music with titles and transitions — made for birthdays, anniversaries and memorial services.
Some photos are too precious to leave faded in a drawer. We repair the damage, bring back the detail, and — if you'd like — animate it into a few seconds of gentle movement, so you can almost feel them in the room again.
// Example: a memory, animated
A couple of genuine home-video transfers — exactly the kind of footage that's sitting in cupboards waiting to be saved.
Magnetic tape wasn't built to last this long. Every year it sits in a warm garage, the picture loses a little more colour, the sound picks up a little more hiss, and old splices start to give way. Film curls. Photos fade and stick to album pages.
None of it is urgent — until the day it suddenly is. The earlier we get to it, the more there is to save.
No two collections are the same, so the final figure depends on what you've got and the shape it's in. These starting prices give you a fair idea before you call.

"We're not really handling plastic tapes and old paper. We're handling someone's wedding day, a child's first steps, the sound of a voice they miss."
Back in 2001, Dan Jones Digital Transfers began with a simple idea: that "lost" family moments shouldn't have to stay lost. What started as digitising a single box of photos has grown into a quarter-century of doing one thing properly — getting memories off fragile old formats and into something that lasts.
Everything is done here in Sydney, by hand, by the person you spoke to on the phone. Your originals are treated with care and come back to you in the same condition they arrived. No overseas labs, no faceless call centre.
Just Dan, and 25 years of looking after other people's memories.
Your memories never leave our hands. Unlike big retailers that ship media to overseas labs, every job is done in our Sydney studio. We handle your originals with archival care and return them to you in the condition they came in.
By default, MP4 for video and JPEG or TIFF for photos — universal formats that work on smart TVs, iPhones, Android phones and computers. You can have them on USB, hard drive, DVD, or a secure cloud download link for easy sharing.
Yes. We first repair and sharpen the original, then gently animate it into a few seconds of natural movement. It's a lovely, surprising way to see a relative who's no longer with us — and it makes a memorable gift.
We can't create detail that was never recorded, but our process uses stabilisation and noise reduction to clean things up considerably. More often than not, the result looks better than the tape ever did on an old VCR.
Most small orders of one to five tapes are done within three to five business days. For a big family box, we'll give you a clear timeline when we quote — and we always aim to get your memories back to you quickly.
Absolutely. We have bulk rates for families digitising their whole history. If you've got a box with 10 or more tapes, or 200-plus photos, get in touch for a package price.
A quick call or message is all it takes to get started. Not sure what your tapes even are? That's fine — describing the box is enough to begin.
